Athens Photo World 2022
For the fourth year in a row, May 20-29, 2022, Athens Photo World presents a series of exhibitions and events which aim to showcase the work of photojournalists and their contribution to shaping the image of our world and history in the making, in times of political and social unrest and upheaval.
As we have already stated since the beginning of APW in 2019, Athens Photo World seeks to make Athens a meeting point for photographers in an era of fast-moving images, news and developments. The Greek capital is changing, reassessing people, values, ideas and aesthetics, and Athens Photo World seeks to give contemporary photojournalism the leading position in the cultural affairs of modern Greek life.
Athens Photo World will return in 2021, at a critical time for the entire planet and for Greece. The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center will be the central venue of its exhibitions and events while at the same time parallel exhibitions and events will unfold in other central Athens spots, rolling out its annual program to the Athenian audience and the city’s visitors.
Athens Photo World 2022 will run once again its contests for the two awards, “Yannis Behrakis” and “Athens Photo World” and will host the internationally acclaimed photojournalism exhibition World Press Photo. This year’s program will be enriched with a number of exhibitions which highlight important events and at the same time prove photography’s beneficial and influential role in our daily life.
